Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

As an immigrant, I have experienced some degree of social isolation, bias, and discrimination. However, I have been blessed with support from certain individuals or organizations, who have worked hard to provide everyone with a welcoming environment, including Stanford University and my postdoc mentor, Michael Fischbach. Their assistance has enabled my family and me to find a comfortable place in academia, a workplace, and a school. By serving in my community and workplace, I have become aware that there are people who have far worse experiences than I have. I hope my experiences have made me more sensitive to—and capable of combatting—discrimination in all forms.
